Biography

Judy and Bill met in college, marrying immediately after Judy's graduation. Bill purchased their first sailboat the year before, just after his graduation. Over the years they've owned a series of eight sailboats, from their initial 12' Moth scow to their present Tayana 42 Pilothouse Cutter, Jubilee.

Starting in the mid-80's they called Bayfield, Wisconsin, on western Lake Superior, their home port. During that time for a taste of saltwater they occasionally chartered or sailed with friends on the East Coast or in the Bahamas and Caribbean. Bill also helped friends on two Caribbean 1500 delivery passages nonstop offshore from Norfolk, VA, to the British Virgin Islands. Throughout this time, and before, they've dreamed of the day they would be able to sail off on their own boat for an extended cruise. That day has finally come.

They're trying to keep their cruising plans fairly flexible. At this point their very our rough cruising itinerary has tracked to the following general plan:

- In the summer of 2007 they explored the upper Great Lakes, storing Jubilee ashore for the '07-'08 winter in Sandusky, Ohio (Lake Erie).

- Starting in June of 2008 they explored Lakes Erie and Ontario before heading down the St. Lawrence to cruise the Canadian Maritimes and New England. They then headed south to cruise the Chesapeake in the fall, proceeding in and out of the ICW down to southern Georgia where they temporarily stored Jubilee for the Holidays.

- From February through May of both 2009 and 2010 they cruised south to Florida and the Bahamas, returning to store Jubilee in Brunswick, Georgia, for the hurricane season. In future years they envision further exploring the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, or possibly sailing on to the eastern Caribbean as the winds and spirit move them.

Between periods when they're cruising onboard Jubilee they'll be back home in Minnesota and/or off pursuing land travels. Presently that means spending summers and falls at home and traveling.

They're hoping to pass some of their cruising excitement on to you through this site. Their goal is to update this blog approximately weekly as they cruise, internet access permitting.
